My boyfriend Brian and I get married, and the marriage is valid in 50 states: this ruins YOUR life HOW?

Let's start by calling cats dogs from now on. Basically here is the way I see it; marriage is a specific thing, it has a definition, you can choose not to like the definition but that doesn't change the definition. Marriage is a religious institution and also where the definition came from. I will cede this to you, our republican federal government has no business defining it either. It's not for them to define it, in much the same way it's not for you to define it, it is of the church and therefore remains for them to define. I say let contracts be written and let the government fulfill its constitutional role and act as moderator or defender of said contracts.
